Who are the ‘Chakra Mothers’?! These are the Shaktis (Goddess ‘Powers’) original to the Chakra system but later omitted from the Westernized version of the Chakras we’ve inherited.  *   Mātṛkās – 50 ‘Maternal Goddess Powers’ (Mātṛkā-śaktis) originally personified the 50 Sanskrit letters  dispersed on the Chakra Lotus Petals, from mūladhāra to ājnā; see below

* Mātṛkā Origins – Omitted from the Western source of the Chakra System (ca. 1577 A.D.), these 50 Sonic Powers are found in earlier texts, including the ‘Universal Mother’ Chakra System (ca. 12^th-14^th centuries, Kashmir) recently revealed by C. Tompkins

Ājñā Chakra – Mātṛkā Goddesses Powers and their Syllables ( 2 Petals)

OṂ ājñā-cakrāya namaḥ | padma-dale ha kṣa dvi-varṇa-mantrāsana-sthāya haṃsa-paramātmane namaḥ ||

 

“OṂ! I bow to the [lotus] Center of Empowerment!  I bow to the swan (haṃsa, HA + SA or KṢA) of the Supreme Self, presiding upon the mantra throne adorned with the [last] two letters [of the Sanskrit alphabet] found on the [two] leaves of its lotus: HA- and KṢA-.”

 

‘She who Presides’ (Sthiti) -  haṃ; 

‘She Who Illuminates’ (Prabhā) – kṣaṃ

 

Viśuddha Chakra - Mātṛkā Goddesses Powers and their Syllables ( 16 Petals)

oṃ viśuddha-cakrāya namaḥ | ṣoḍaśadale aṃ āṃ iṃ īṃ uṃ ūṃṛṃ Ṛṃ .lṃ Lṃ eṃ aiṃ oṃ auṃ aṃ aḥ bījapuruṣāya namaḥ |

 

“OṂ! I bow to the [Lotus] Center of Purification!

I give praise to the Self as the [16] seed [vowels] aṃ āṃ iṃ īṃ uṃ ūṃṛṃ Ṛṃ .lṃ Lṃ eṃ aiṃ oṃ auṃ aṃ and aḥ found on its 16 petals!”

 

 

‘She Who is the Power of Wisdom’ (vidyā) – aṃ;

‘She Who is the Power of Ignorance’ (avidyā) – āṃ; 

‘She Who is the Power of Desire’ (icchāśakti) -  iṃ; 

‘She Who is the Power of Creativity’ (kriyāśakti) – īṃ;  

‘She Who is the Power of Insight’ (jñānaśakti) – uṃ;

  ‘She Who is the Power of Gentleness’ (śītalā) – ūṃ; 

  ‘She Who is the Power of Great Wisdom’ (mahāvidyā) – ṛṃ; 

  ‘She Who is the Power of Great Delusion’ (mahāmāyā) – Ṛṃ; 

  ‘She Who Brings Welfare’ (vṛddhiḥ) – ḷṃ; 

‘She Who is the Power of Darkness’ (tāmasā) – Ḷṃ; 

‘She Who is the Power of Friendship’ (maitrī) – eṃ; 

‘She Who is the Power of Attracting Friendship’ (maitryāyinī) – aiṃ;

  ‘She Who is the Power of Youth’ (kumārī) – oṃ; 

‘She Who is the Power of Ferocity’ (raudrī) – auṃ; 

‘She Who is the Power of Fullness’ (pūrṇā) – ṃ; 

‘She Who is the Power of a Lioness’ (siṃhinī) – ḥ

 

Anāhata Chakra- Mātṛkā Goddesses Powers and their Syllables ( 10 Petals).

Oṃ anāhata-cakrāya namaḥ | Śrī-sūrya-dale kaṃ khaṃ gaṃ ghaṃ ṅaṃ caṃ chaṃ jaṃ jhaṃ ñaṃ ṭaṃ ṭhaṃ bīja-puruṣāya namaḥ |

 

“OṂ! I bow to the [Lotus] Center of the Un-struck [Syllable]!

I give praise to the Self as the [12] seed [syllables]- kaṃ khaṃ gaṃ ghaṃ ṅaṃ caṃ chaṃ jaṃ jhaṃ ñaṃ ṭaṃ ṭhaṃ, on the [12] petals that are the splendorous [rays] of the sun!“

Tejasā   -‘She who Embodies ‘Heat’ – khaṃ

 Tāpinī   - ‘She Who Creates Heat’ – gaṃ

Sukhadā - ‘She who Brings Pleasure’ – ghaṃ

  Caitanyā  -  ‘She who Embodies Awareness’’ – ṅaṃ

 Śivā -  ‘She who is Auspicious’ – caṃ

Śāktiḥ - ‘’She Who is Empowering’ – chaṃ

  Umā  - ‘She who is Umā’ – jaṃ

 Gaurī -  ‘She who is Shining’ – jhaṃ

 Mātaraḥ -  ‘She Who is Maternality’ – ñaṃ

Jvālā - ‘She who is the Kindling of Fire’ – ṭaṃ

Prajvālinī – ‘She who is the Blaze of Fire’ – ṭhaṃ

 

Maṇipūra Chakra -Mātṛkā Goddesses Powers and their Syllables ( 12 Petals)

oṃ maṇipūra-cakrāya namaḥ | digdale ḍaṃḍhaṃṇaṃ taṃ thaṃ daṃ dhaṃ naṃ paṃ phaṃ bījātmane namaḥ |

‘OṂ! I bow to the ‘Jewel-Filled’ [Lotus] Center!

I give praise to the Self, as the seed [syllables] on its [10] directional petals – ḍaṃ, ḍhaṃ, ṇaṃ, taṃ, thaṃ, daṃ, dhaṃ, naṃ, paṃ, and phaṃ.’

 

 

“She Who is Resistant” (Kṣamā) – ḍaṃ

“She Who is the Sacrificial Offering” (Medhāḥ) – ḍhaṃ

“She Who is Ferocity” (Tīvrā) – ṇaṃ

“She Who is the Leader” (Nayāḥ) – taṃ

“She Who is Wise” (Dhiṣaṇā) – thaṃ

“She Who the Blue Lotus” (Puṣkarā) – daṃ

“She Who is the Waddling gait of the Swan” (Haṃsagāminī) – dhaṃ

“She Who Arises” (Udanī) – naṃ

“She Who Brings Fortune” (Lakṣmyī) – paṃ

“She Who is Divine Nectar of Immortality” (Amṛtadevatā) – phaṃ

 

Svādhiṣṭhāna Chakra - Mātṛkā Goddesses Powers and their Syllables (6 Petals)

oṃ svādhiṣṭhāna-ṣaḍ-dala-cakrāya namaḥ |

baṃ bhaṃ maṃ yaṃ raṃ laṃ bījātmane namaḥ |

 

‘OṂ! I bow to ‘Her favorite Locale,’ to the [Lotus] Center with 6 petals! I bow to the Self as the seed [syllables] baṃ, bhaṃ, maṃ, yaṃ, raṃ, and laṃ!’

 

 

“She who is Desire (Kāmā)” – baṃ

“She who is the Wheel of Lust (Kāmākṣā)” – bhaṃ

“She who Embodies the Heat (of Lovemaking – Tejasvinī)” – maṃ

“She who is the Thrill (of Lovemaking –Ullāsā)” – yaṃ

“She who is the Activity (of new life -  Ceṣṭā)” – raṃ

“She who is Lovemaking (itself – Mithunā)” – laṃ

 

Mūlādhāra Chakra- Mātṛkā Goddesses Powers and their Syllables (4 Petals).

oṃ gaṃ gaṇapataye namaḥ | mūlādhāre caturdale vaṃ śaṃṣaṃ saṃ bījātmane namaḥ |

‘OṂ! I bow to Gaṇapati as the syllable GAṂ! I bow to the Self, as the seed [syllables] found on the four petals of the Root-Base [Lotus Center] – vaṃ, śaṃ,ṣaṃ, and saṃ.’

 

“She who is Bliss” (Ānandā) – vaṃ

“She who is the Bliss of Yoga” (Yogānandā) – śaṃ

“She who is the Bliss of Heroism” (Vīrānandā) – ṣaṃ

 “She who is the Highest Bliss” (Śrīparamānandā) – saṃ
